DIY Dinosaur Fossils

It’s dinosaur week at Moonfrye! Turn your own backyard into a prehistoric playground with our super easy DIY dinosaur fossils craft. We buried our finished fossils around the yard and let the girls have a blast playing archeologists on their very own “dig.”

What you will need:

Small dinosaur toys

4 cups flour

1 cup salt

2 cups water

Large mixing bowl

Baking sheet or jelly roll pan

Parchment paper

Round object for shaping fossils (a small bowl or a drinking glass works fine!)

Step 1: Preheat oven to 180 degrees. Combine flour, salt and water in the mixing bowl until well blended.

Step 2: Roll dough out until it’s approximately 1/4″ thick.

Step 3: Using a small bowl or drinking glass, cut circles out of the dough.

Step 4: Press toy dinosaurs firmly into the dough circles to create the “fossil” impression, then remove.

Step 5: Transfer fossils to a parchment paper-lined baking sheet or jelly roll pan and bake in the oven for one hour. Allow to cool completely.

Step 6: Use your dinosaur fossils to create your own prehistoric adventure!
