Homemade Father’s Day “I Love You” Cookies

Nothing says “I love you” like homemade cookies. I love baking chocolate chip cookies with my girls. This Father’s Day, Poet and Jagger are so excited to surprise their dad with this yummy treat! We used one of favorite cookie recipes from Magnolia Bakery. Enjoy!

What you will need:

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

2/3 cup unsalted butter, softened

1/2 cup white sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed

1 large egg (room temperature)

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 cup chocolate chips

Step 1: Preheat oven to 350F

Step 2: Combine flour, baking soda and salt in a large bowl. Set aside.

Step 3: In a second bowl, cream together butter, white sugar and brown sugar. Add vanilla and egg, mixing well.

Step 4: Slowly add in flour mixture, mixing well to combine.

Step 5: Stir in chocolate chips.

Step 6: Spread cookie dough onto an ungreased cookie sheet or jelly roll pan. Using a knife, cut out your letters to spell whatever special Father’s Day message you’d like. Remember, cookies WILL expand while they’re baking so leave some extra space when you’re forming your letters.

Step 7: Bake in the oven for 10-12 minutes or until light golden brown. Transfer to a wire baking rack and let cool completely before serving.

Serve with a glass of cold milk to a special dad in your life!
